Distributed Ressource Scheduler – save power with DPM
Live video to show you how DPM (Distributed Power Management) actually works. It continuously monitors resource requirements and power consumption across a DRS cluster. When the cluster needs fewer resources, it consolidates workloads and puts hosts in standby mode to reduce power consumption. And the other way arround.
With this simulation video with 4 nodes DRS (Distributed Ressource Scheduler) clusterYou can see the power saved through one working day. With one server consuming only about 520W at the beginning of the working day up to 2100W for all four servers with full load. You can clearly see the fully automated process of managing the 4 ESX Servers. They just start when the power is needed and they go off when there is less demand.
