New tool from xTravirt – vAlarm
vAlarm is a new application tool from xTravirt, well know for a free tools and good white papers or some great Presentation Packs. The tool helps I’m going to introduce today can help you monitor vCenter Server without having your VI client up and running. You’ll be able to monitor alarms generated by VMware vCenter by using vAlarm.
Just install on your desktop. You’ll need at least Windows 2000 SP4. Then XP, Vista or even Windows 7 is supported now…. You’ll need also .NET 3.5 from Microsoft which you can get here.
The program automatically communicates with a vCenter server. The time how often it does, is configurable. Then there are a pop-ups if any active alarms on vCenter Server.

The installation is fairly simple. Just follow the wizard clicking next….
Then you’ll have a little window asking about the connection to your vCenter Server. You can leave the default port 443 if you did setup your vCenter server by default for this port.
The application is running in a taskbar.

Right clicking you can set up the refresh interval and pop-up duration.
