VMwareLearning.com is the new technical videos website from VMware
There is an excellent new resource video website that has been brought to life by VMware. The website is located at vmwarelearning.com and contains already over 50 free videos from different VMware products.
Few days back I was talking about new free videos about SRM, so those are present there as well.
The new website is centralizing those educational videos, which are created as how-to and follow up videos. It’s like mini how-to series presented to the readers, where they can follow individual videos on many VMware products like vSphere, vCloud director, SRM, vCenter Operations Manager, vFabric/Spring or vSphere Storage Appliance.
I have been looking at the installation video of vCD. It’s a shame that it’s still focused on the vCD 1.5 version and I hope the installation process hasn’t changed much, otherwise the content is already obsolete, of course. But the overall experience from watching those videos is really good.
Here is an example of VMware vSphere learning videos currently present there:
- Installing VMware vCenter Server
- Installing VMware ESXi 5
- Configuring vNetwork STandard Switches
- Configuring vNetwork Distributed Switches
- Using VMFS Data Stores
- Using Thin Provisioned Virtual Disks
- Installing a Guest Operating System
- Using Templates and Cloning
- Protecting Virtual Machines with vSphere HA
- Creating vSphere DRS Clusters
- Using Storage DRS
- Migrating Virtual Machines with vMotion
- Using Storage Profiles

As the other products, vCenter Operations Manager, SRM, vCloud Director, vFabric/Spring…… over 50 videos is present already. I think that a good idea would be that VMware allows to download the content with a direct links.
Otherwise, as a workaround, as I have mentioned in my previous post about the SRM videos, you have the possibility to register those videos by using Firefox plugin called Download Helper. This plugin allows you to save locally the video for later usage, if your bandwidth doesn’t allows you to watch this video in good conditions.
I’m sure that there are more plugins or tools available, but the most important is probably watch and learn the how-to which is showed in those videos.
