The number of virtual environements will be multiplied by 10 during the next 2 years
There has been held an Virtualization event in Prague (Czech Republic) the 3rd of this months called Virtualization Forum 2009. One of the attendants Petr Buchmaier is also an author of Czech website windowsportal.cz with a virtualization section. Even though the websites are in Czech language and also the pdfs from the event, Petr’s PDF captured my attention.
FYI: you can use google translation tools if you wan to go through those websites a bit…
Some facts from the PDF:
- There is only 16 % production environments been used in visualized environment.
- Virtualization save your enterprises money and gain on reactivity.

You can find some comparing of the 3 major virtualization platforms – VMware, Microsoft and Xen on their technical basics, not by price.
Important is which one of those platforms is the more accurate for your environment.
The original PDF from Gartner’s group can be found here.
