Workstation 8.0.4 for Linux and Windows updated
This new release – 8.0.4 – Build 744019 is a maintenance release which is Free for Workstation 8 users. It fixes several issues. You can read the full release notes here.
The Workstation 8 has brought some major enhancement over to Workstation 7. You can read my detailed post on those features here. One of those features is a remote connection to ESXi/vSphere hosts and managing VMs remotely. With simple tweak you can also test Hyper-V as a nested VM. You can also setup a nested VMware vSphere Lab. Read my post here.
The Issues fixed in this release:
- Linux guests running the Linux kernel version 2.6.34 or later could not be pinged from the host via an IPv6 address.
On rare occasions, Linux guests would suddenly fail to Autofit or enter Unity.
- Unity mode would exit if the title bar of an application contained certain non UTF-8 encoded extended ASCII
- On Windows hosts, the VMware Workstation user interface sometimes became unresponsive when minimized from full-
screen mode if the suggestion balloon was being displayed.
- On Windows hosts, the user interface sometimes became unresponsive if the application was rendered on an extended
display that was abruptly disconnected.
