VOTE for your favorite virtualization blog
Pick up your Top 10 blogs for 2009 and possibly win Trainsignal’s VMware vSphere 4 video learning course.
Eric Siebert has launched once again (this is the fourth time, I beleive) the contest for The best virtualization blogs.
It’s an industry official voting, and it’s YOU, the reader, the consumer of the information, who will choose the TOP 10 Virtualization Blogs and the TOP 25 will be calculated with the Sum of points collected.
How it works? Eric explains that here:
“You must choose your top 10 favorite blogs, the survey will be open for two weeks. Once all the votes have been cast I’ll add them up and using weights (#1 vote = 10 points, #2 vote equals 9 points, etc.) and calculate the Top 25 blogs.”
While thinking of the Top Virtualization Blogs, you should take into account:
- frequency (how often they post)
- quality (how well the posts are)
- length (how long the posts are)
- longevity (how long they have been blogging for)
I voted already and while thinking of the past year. I’m a blogger too. While reading through the year the blogs to which I’m subscribed with my RSS reader (by the way what is RSS?), I realized that there is not many blogs that posts everyday. You too are certainly remarked, that some blogs are posting more frequently than others. While those blogs are posting frequently to keep you informed, those posts can’t always be the best posts at the same time.
It’s normal. I’m speaking from my own experience. When you post every day, it’s not possible to have at the same time the best posts. Even if you’re blogging pro (not my case..), you’re not gonna produce a super blog post every day.
There are certainly some of the bloggers which do not post frequently, but they are posting quality. That’s another option which every blogger has. Do only best articles and post less frequently.
So you should take into account not only the frequency, but also the quality, length, and longevity of the blog.
The TOP bloggers will have the possibility to use a graphic for their blogs.
You can vote on Eric’s website vSphere-land.com
Eric also explains that he put in place a solution for avoiding people voting twice (or more..). It’s based on your public IP adress. And also that since there is some cost involved for the voting solution, he picked a sponsor – Trainsignal to help out cover the cost. Trainsignal also gives out 2 VMware vSphere 4 learning courses which I’m promoting on my blog too.
So at the same time you will vote you’ll have the chance to Win this great learning course from Trainsignal.

How do you let them know your e-mail address for the drawing?
Hi,
Eric has added an e-mail adress field to the survey. If you are already voted he’ll try to track you with the IP adress and GEO track…
“I do collect IP address & geo track info so I will use that to try and get a hold of the winner for the existing votes”
