Big news from SAP and Fujitsu.
First ever fully virtualized SAP 3-tier SD benchmark on VMware vSphere 4 were published by Fujitsu recently.
As a result: 16,000 SD Users and 87,800 SAPS. SAP ECC 6.0 with EHP 4 on Fujitsu Primergy on SuSE Enterprise Linux 10 SP2, database was MaxDB 7.8
As I could see from the certificate, there has been 7 blade chassis BX900 S1 with 2CPU 8 cores each (Xeon 5570), with 36 Gigs of RAM and 1 RX300s5 (Xeon 5560) 8 cores each with 96 Gigs of RAM involved in the configuration. See the certificate here in pdf – SAP SD benchmark certificate 2010016.
The details about this test are in a benchmark report that was put together by Fujitsu and VMware. The official SAP benchmark site also has added this new result to the Three-Tier SD Benchmark results.

Last word from me. Fujitsu and Primergy is my “daily bread”. And as you can see, even if Fujitsu Primergy servers are less known in the virtualization communities, the power is there and the reliability too.
