There is a new update to Trilead VM explorer. The product supports Hyper-V 2012 with file level restore functionality and VHDX virtual disks, plus more.
Trilead has been around for a while. The product differentiate itself from it’s unique licencing possibilities – per site licensing. Single license for whole site.
The main new features of VM Explorer 4.1 are:
- Support for Hyper-V 2012 server
- File level restore for VHDX disk files
- Support for ESX/ESXi 4.1 874690
- Virtual hardware compatibility check for ESX/ESXi and Hyper-V servers
- Enhanced vCenter backup performance (VMware)
A while back, I have been asked for a review of Trilead 4.0. You can see some good screenshots from the UI there, plus my detailed article with test in my lab.
Note that there is also limited Free version, which is stripped down without some advanced functions like incremental backups, replication capability, schedulings of backups or E-mail reporting, but it gives you an idea to fit in your environment. You can have a look at the differences between the Free and a Pro version on this page.
A quote from the FAQ page:
You have only to buy one licence per installation. It doesn’t matter how many ESX, Virtual Machines or CPUs you are using. It’s only the number of installations of VM Explorer® you have which count. In most cases only one single licence is required for the entire infrastructure.
