What’s New in Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5

By Vladan SEGET | Last Updated: December 2, 2021

Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 continues to deliver next-generation innovative data protection solutions for enterprise-grade virtualization users with a bunch of new backup techniques being involved, empowering business digitalization with advanced backup and restore performance.

What’s New?

Multi-tenant Backup Solution for MSPs

Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 provides multi-tenant management mode for managed service providers to easily deliver powerful BaaS (Backup-as-a-Service) and DRaaS (Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service) to customers. With complete data protection features all integrated into one platform, you can simply create tenants and allocate system resources through a single pane of glass. By adding flexibility without compromising the functionality, Vinchin multi-tenant management mode helps you to build a more scalable backup infrastructure that follows the growth of your business.

The backup environment of each tenant is completely isolated, so that your customers can have peace of mind knowing only authorized users can access the company resources via self-service portal. And with role-based access control, a feature that allows master admins to set restricted feature/resource access permission for subordinate users, the security level of each tenant’s most critical data can be further improved.

Cross-Platform Recovery (V2V)

Having a hybrid virtual platform in the data center seems to be so common today that it empowers higher IT system performance with more flexible operations supported. Therefore, data migration across different virtual platforms now may be an essential need of most modern businesses.

No matter you need to switch IT workloads from one virtual platform to another or quickly recover key services or data files to a new virtual platform due to damage of the original one, Vinchin cross-platform recovery (V2V) feature can help you easily get your goals. With 10+ virtualizations including VMware, Citrix XenServer/Hypervisor, XCP-ng, Oracle Linux Virtualization Manager/oVirt, OpenStack, Sangfor HCI, Huawei FusionCompute and H3C CAS/UIS supported, you can effortlessly migrate your data across platforms with minimal software deployment cost.

Vinchin System Configuration Backup

Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 now supports to protect the system itself with the Configuration Backup feature. When backup repository expansion, patch installation, backup system upgrade or migration are needed, you can easily find the access to back up all the system configuration files beforehand, so that even the backup system crashes due to any job failure, you can still have it quickly restored using the backup data. Both automatic mode and manual setting mode apply to Configuration Backup, and you can set the best system protection plan that suits your business pattern most.

Database Backup & Recovery

Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 calls APIs of MySQL, SQL Server and Oracle Database to protect your database files in both physical servers and virtual hosts by hot application-consistent backup. Combine backup copy feature with scheduled backup ensures you have multiple data copies in hand so that critical data is always highly recoverable even if the primary backup gets damaged or attacked.

Backup Data Encryption & Backup Storage Protection

In order to prevent data loss caused by ransomware or other malware in a more effective way, unique data encryption technology and backup storage protection technology are newly applied to Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5. During the backup data transmission process, all your critical backups will be simultaneously encrypted by bank-level algorithm, so that even hackers stole your backups, they still get no way to access the data files. And for backups that’re already stored in Vinchin backup server, any backup data modification by unauthorized applications will directly be denied, giving no chance for ransomware to launch attacks.

Besides integrating new technologies for you to further enhance the security level of your critical IT workloads, the concept of user-friendly IT operation is also not forgotten to show in the latest version.

Key Feature Updates

Advanced Recovery Job Configuration

Higher flexibility is added into Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 for improved date restore performance. You can configure jobs to recover vCPU, server memory, disk format and more, giving more choices for you to implement more accurate recovery.

SSH Tool Integration

Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 integrates Web SSH (Web Secure Shell) for you to directly visit the management interface via web browser without installing extra SSH tool on PC, optimizing IT administration to make things super easy.

Password Before Job Deletion

To delete backup data or a backup job in Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5, you have to enter a password for confirmation. This can effectively prevent unnecessary backup data loss caused by mistaken operations.

User-Friendly Icon Design

Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 fits the characteristics of different virtualization platforms on the icon, so that you can find out the added virtual platform you want to manage and monitor more easily than before.

Improved Data Deduplication Performance

Vinchin Deduplication continues to extract zeroed data blocks in backups for faster data transfer speed and backup storage saving but with better performance.

Adapting to the agility of modern IT infrastructure, Vinchin Backup & Recovery v6.5 mixes the flexibility, reliability and ease-of-use better together without compromising powerful functionality. Set up your own data protection plans with Vinchin today in minutes!
