VCAP5-DCD Exams Now Based on vSphere 5.5 Too

VMware has updated VCAP5-DCD Certification exam. You can now pass certification exam based on vSphere 5.5, but you still only earn VCAP5-DCD title. On the other hand you still have a possibility to pass existing exam based on vSphere 5.0/5.1. Any of those exams will give you the same title – VCAP5-DCD.

On August 1, we released a new exam to qualify candidates for the VMware Certified Advanced Professional 5 – Data Center Design (VCAP5-DCD) Certification. This new exam (exam code VDCD550) is based on vSphere v5.5, where the existing exam (exam code VDCD510) is based on vSphere 5.0/5.1. Passing either of these exams will earn VCAP5-DCD certification if you have also met the pre-requisites.

I had some hard time the first time I tried, during VMworld Barcelona. I have failed the first time, but I took it as a learning experience, so the frustration from failed exam went very fast away.

Also there was 75% discount codes during the event. I just went for it. Few months later I When I passed this exam I felt a big relief, and that this very difficult exam is finely done.

I had a studybook – VCAP official certification guide by Paul McSharry with a blank online exam, vBrownbags are very good. During my preparation I was watching latest two vBrownbags with John Arrasjid, Linus Bourque and Jon Hall. They discussed the different VCAP exams in details and explained how the questions are noted. A partial credit for the design questions is key element to take into account! So even if you don’t do the whole design, just placing elements and connecting them together can earn you some precious points…

And I also went through the Blueprint several times and used Pluralsight's training courses from Scott Lowe. (Check out Pluralsight, there is 12 days free trial, cancel anytime offer). It's a difficult exam which needs special attention if you don't do designs often.

To register for this exam you must first ask for an authorisation from VMware as you must be VCP first.
