vCloud connector – the key for hybrid clouds.
vCloud Connector 1.5 has been announced at VMware. The version 1.5 brought some enhancements and new functionalities over the version 1.0.
vCloud connector is the key for transferring workloads from one cloud to another. From your private cloud data-center at your company to public cloud at some service provider. It's to tool which is responsible for that. The copy function does that. In the new release the transfers has been made more reliable, but also some new enhancements has been made.
Here are the features:
More Reliable Transfer of Workloads: Transfer virtual machines and templates between clouds more reliably and efficiently with features like multi-part transfer, built-in compression and checkpoint restart.
Single Pane of Glass, Now through Web UI: Continue to view VMs and templates across multiple clouds and perform basic operations such as power and console access within the vSphere client, now also accessible through Web-based UI of vcloud.vmware.com.
Support for latest version of vSphere (5.0) and vCloud Director (1.5)
Search Function: Finds specific VMs, vApps, and templates by name in large clouds
