It's been a while since I haven't written a personal post. LFG. I have recently been asked by Runecast to give an interview. It's been always a great pleasure to collaborate on content with Runecast, and this time, it's been published on their blog.
If you don't know Runecast, you should check them out because they are quite unique, and becoming a security and compliance platform you won't like to be missing. It's there no longer only to “help with vSphere KBs” and vSphere updates. That was before, and I say that not only because they have an office In Brno, Czech Republic (It's the city where I spend 3 years studying at the university, VUT Electro Technology -:).
Their platform becomes slowly more and more compliance and security platform, with those vSphere optimizations we all already know from the past. Now you can not only do performance and security tuning of vSphere, Kubernetes, Amazon AWS or Microsoft Azure, but also check that you're compliant with automated vulnerability scanning, security compliance audits and has remediation capabilities.
I'm an IT guy, however, Runecast asked me about also some of the personal choices and personal things in my life. The full interview can be found at Runecast blog here. Many things have changed since I first started in the IT. Virtualization is changing too into fully multi-cloud management. I'm sure this year's
VMworld VMware EXPLORE (event name change) will give us full of that.
A few years back, when security was still on the second rail, companies were mainly focusing on financing their own infrastructure with security at a second choice. Things are changing due to security breaches, malware, ransomware, and phishing activities. Those things are rising faster and faster every year. What do you think was “good enough” for your company protection just last year or a couple of years ago, is it no longer enough?
Even if your backups are bulletproof, immutable, and spread across several sites and media. If you get hit by ransomware due to some unpatched OS vulnerability, it will take days for you to restore. So even if you don't lose your data, your company will most likely lose money due to time loss. To say that with the evolution of security, you must look at things globally, with the security approach.
I'm on the road
Back to the roots. After spending over 17 years at Reunion Island, no wonder I want to move a bit now. -:). That's why we got a car and caravan, staying in the campsites at the south of France for now, but the plans are to move across Europe and do some Nordic countries as well as some southern Europe countries. This year, however, we “stick” in France as we have a construction project that we must take care of first. A House….. But starting next year or late this year, the plans are to spend winter in some southern European countries.
How's the blog going?
To tell you the truth, It's not always obvious to find a good topic to blog about. And after more than 10 years of blogging, I felt I need a break. That's why there was not a daily posts recently. It's just I needed to slow down a bit too.
Recently I've been recognized by VMware as a Top 100 Influencer -:). When you receive this, it motivates you too.
I'm always motivated when I meet other bloggers and IT peers.
Recently I was contacted by Mike Ghazaleh from TechBytes.IO so he “boosted” me a bit as he creates some cool video training for vSphere, NSX and other VMware products. I think you might be interested in training that won't ruin your pocket, right?
Mike started his blog and his training site not too long ago, but he has a lot to offer already. He has more to come especially with some external help of other IT trainers which will help with the video content there as well. Here are a couple of links to different courses that Mike does:
VMware Featured Crash Courses
- Featured VMware Courses [ Friendly pricing ]
- vSphere Networking Crash Course– you want to learn all of the advanced functionalities within the VMware VDS, or you just need to know enough networking to manage a vSphere environment.
- vRealize Network Insight Fundamentals
- vSphere 7 Course Fundamentals– If you're planning to take your VCP-DCV exam in 2022, this course is an excellent start. (based on vSphere 7 +)
- NSX-T Federation Fundamentals – The ability to stretch networks and security policies between physical locations.
- Avi Networks Course (NSX Advanced Load Balancer) – learn how to deploy, and configure Avi/NSX ALB.
I'm still in touch with other bloggers and peers that update me regularly on their projects and creations. One of them is Spanish blogger Xavier Genestos that has recently published a new book on Windows Server 2022.
So this keeps me busy too -:).
Check out latest interview at Runecast!!
The full interview can be found here.
The show must go on -:). More articles to come, more vSphere, NSX, Horizon, Windows Server, Tips, Tools, Services. Do you have ideas for a blog and don't have time to write it? Contact me via social media or via email: contact (at) vladan (dot) fr and I'll have a look. Do you run an IT company that created a cool software product or service that needs to be put into the highlight? Just get in touch and I'll see what I can do to shout this out to the world (or to my audience).
This blog lives thanks to its content. While at the beginning, my English skills were so so, I quickly improved and my articles made more sense. Then thanks to Google I could see that people were actually searching for answers on Google…. and my site came up in the Search Engine Research Page (SERP).
Imagine that when you're a blogger-beginner. It definitely boosts your confidence on what you have just started. I always wanted to have my own space instead of writing for FaceBook or Instagram. The result is ESX Virtualization Blog which attracts visitors from all over the world, English speaking. I think that good content will live forever.
