Here we are again, in a nice Prague, for a Veeam 100 Summit 2025. This year, we have in addition to Veeam Vanguards, Veeam MVPs and Veeam Legends, also Veeam User Group (VUG) Leaders. This gave me a great opportunity to meet some new faces and make new friends. Also, for me as a Czech born, an occasion to speak some czech while living abroad most of the time. The czech language ofcourse isn't something you forget, but in order to get back into it, it needs some effort (and beer -:p).
BTW, if you zoom into the photo, the right-top says “Pilsner Uquell is the only beer imported from Pilsen” which is funny because it is written in French -:). On the photo, from the left: Petr Bouška , Antonin Strnad (https://www.linkedin.com/in/anton%C3%ADn-strnad-13a49284/), and Marcel Kacmar from Slovakia.
Today is tuesday (already) and so we are having a general session right now. Further forward, we'll have some further details about the latest news from Veeam, update on the whole product line directly from the product managmeent team, as well as some demos and slides.
Securiti AI has been acquired by Veeam, just couple of weeks before. And we'll have more info on that. With (DSPM) Data Security Posture Management, which is a cybersecurity approach that focuses on protecting data directly by discovering, classifying, and monitoring sensitive information across an organization's entire environment, this acquisition makes sense and enforces Veeam's possition as a major leader in the data protection and AI driven markets.
This year we have a major release of Veeam Data platform with Veeam Backup and Replication v13 delivered as a hardened Linux virtual appliance. I have already blogged in details about this v13 release and what we have in there:
- Veeam v13 Download Available – Start your download engines!
- Veeam Backup Appliance 13.0 ISO automated installation
- Unlock your Veeam v13 With Windows-Based Console for VBR 13
- Veeam Backup and Replication Plug-in for XCP-NG Enters Public Beta: Powering Up Xen Hypervisor Backups
Further down the road, we should see the release of v13 of the windows product allowing you to migrate all your DBs and data onto the v13 platform. Curently the v13 Linux appliance does not allow import so it can only be used in green field deployments.
We're in the Ballroom (the biggest room they have in the Hilton hotel in Prague), but this year we're more so for some sessions we do have to split into two other smaller rooms. This makes sense also as matter of fact, some sessions aren't interesting for some while other sessions are. In my case I'm not really into a serice providers space so for my personally I'll look into other sessions which runs at the same time in other rooms.
Last year we were in Berlin, and the year before, in Prague again. It seems that this strategy will continue, but we do not know for next year, if we gonna return to Berlin or have another place.
There will be more that I'll add to this post, but for now, let's push that into the online space. After the end of the Veeam 100 Summit we'll get all the PPTs and PDFs so I'll be able to post some more technical details (if not RED content, because there is some), and dive a bit deeper into some areas that are new and new features comming.
Veeam Intelligence
this session is interesting as this technology and AI-powered solution developed by Veeam Software as part of its data resilience and backup portfolio. It leverages artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance data protection, automate analysis, provide user support, and deliver actionable insights for IT operations, cybersecurity, and compliance. Essentially, it transforms traditional backups into intelligent assets by detecting threats, resolving issues proactively, and enabling data reuse for tasks like mining, development, and testing.
Session presented by Jorge de la Cruz and Emilie Tellez.
Veeam Software Appliance
Veeam intelligence is now part of the web-based UI console in Veeam Backup and replication.
The full Veeam Backup and replication will receive the intergration of the Full Veeam Intelligence in the near future. So you'll be able to query whether you're using the Veeam Windows based console or whether you're using the web-based UI.
New AI Report is comming!
Html report is a summary of the past 24 hours with all the errors, warnings (if any) so you can click directly on the group to see what was wrong. You're not receiving bunch of emails, but just one, summary email.
Veeam ONE 13.X
Compared to the v12, the v13 uses less access api calls to the VBR and then sends the datas.
The historical reports are like 15 times faster than in the v12!
It's because of an architectural changes.
In fact, there are data that are de-staged into the Postgress Reporting database and when you need to run a historical report, it will pull data only from this DB.
The v13 has a fully HTML 5 report and they are very flexible. You can group reports by platform, job status etc. Filtering are also available.
You can now also, after creating your custom report, share the direct link to the report.
BTW, I must ask Jorge to share his PPT so I get better pics… -:)
The 13.1 will add support for Veeam VBR high availability.
Localization
English, but also Japanese!
Stay tuned for more. This post will get updated.
