Monitoring of heterogenous environments has always been difficult, or at least before XorMon. Check XorMon, which is a cutting-edge tool designed to provide comprehensive monitoring solutions for servers, virtualization, storage, databases, cloud environments, containers, SAN, and LAN. XorMon supports a large number of virtualization technologies, including VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV, Oracle VM, and more. One of the main advantages is that you can have an alerting configured within the product, from within a single UI.

You can monitor your fully heterogenous IT environment. With its latest release, XorMon has taken a significant leap forward, introducing a host of new features that promise to revolutionize the way IT professionals monitor and manage their infrastructure. In this blog post, we’ll explore some of the new features from the latest release.

Interactive graphs and a more customizable interface.

The Evolution of XorMon – XorMon has always been at the forefront of infrastructure monitoring, offering robust solutions that cater to the diverse needs of IT environments.

The latest release of XorMon NG (next generation), version 1.6, builds on this legacy by introducing several enhancements and new features that elevate the user experience to new heights.

Interactive Graphs: A Game-Changer

One of the most exciting additions in the latest release is the introduction of interactive graphs. These graphs are not just static images; they are dynamic tools that allow users to engage with the data in real-time. With capabilities to filter, sort, and zoom into specific metrics, users can tailor their view to the information that matters most to them.

Xormon NG - select your area of interest

The interactive graphs enable users to select individual items for a more detailed analysis. This level of interactivity ensures that IT professionals can quickly pinpoint issues, understand trends, and make data-driven decisions with ease.

The ability to filter and sort data means that users can focus on the most critical metrics, while the zoom function allows for a granular view of the data, making it easier to identify anomalies and patterns.

The best would be to watch Xorux’s video about the new graphs here. You’ll see how to find and use all the new interactive features.

Customizable Interface: Tailored to Your Needs

In addition to interactive graphs, the latest release of XorMon brings a more customizable interface. This feature allows users to personalize their monitoring experience, ensuring that the most relevant information is always at their fingertips. The customizable interface includes options to create custom dashboards, configure alerts, and set up personalized reports. You can also organize the drop down menus.

With the ability to create custom dashboards, users can design their monitoring environment to suit their specific needs. Whether it’s a high-level overview of the entire infrastructure or a detailed view of a particular component, the customizable interface ensures that users have the flexibility to monitor what matters most to them.

Enhanced Reporting and Exporting

With graphs and data, we should not forget that XorMon NG has great exporting options. The latest release includes enhancements to reporting and exporting capabilities. Users can now generate detailed reports that provide insights into the performance and health of their infrastructure. These reports can be customized to include specific metrics and timeframes, ensuring that users have the information they need to make informed decisions.

Exporting data has also been made easier, with options to export data in various formats, including CSV. This feature allows users to share data with other tools and stakeholders, facilitating collaboration and further analysis.

Seamless Integration and Modern Technology Stack

XorMon’s latest release is built on a modern technology stack, including TimescaleDB, microservices, and a React-based UI. This ensures that the tool is scalable, future-proof, and capable of handling the demands of modern IT environments. The integration capabilities have also been enhanced, with APIs that allow for better integration with other tools and systems.

Previously, Xorux’s product line had 3 major products but then XorMon NG was born to simplify everything. XorMon NG is a modern replacement for our original set of monitoring tools XorMon Original, LPAR2RRD and STOR2RRD.

Real-World Applications

The interactive graphs and customizable interface have already proven to be invaluable in real-world applications. IT professionals have reported significant improvements in their ability to monitor and manage their infrastructure, with the new features enabling them to quickly identify and resolve issues.

For example, a large enterprise using XorMon to monitor its cloud infrastructure was able to identify a performance bottleneck in one of its virtual machines. By using the interactive graphs, the IT team was able to zoom in on the specific metrics and pinpoint the root cause of the issue. The customizable interface allowed them to set up alerts and create a custom dashboard to monitor the affected virtual machine, ensuring that similar issues could be detected and resolved promptly in the future.

Fast pace of development

XorMon NG is a new product and as a result, there are frequent updates. You can have a look at the release notes where you’ll see that updates of every 2-3 months are not unusual. Latest release 1.6 went out just today.
